The southern Nicoya Peninsula runs from the ferry town of Paquera, past the sheltered bay of Tambor and the hills of Tango Mar, to Montezuma and Santa Teresa. You get the quiet of small beach towns with San José a short flight or ferry ride away.
Calm water in Tambor
Bahía Ballena is protected from big swell, so its beaches are good for swimming, paddling and kayaking most of the year.
Easy to reach
Short domestic flights land at Tambor's airstrip, and the Paquera ferry connects you by car to Puntarenas and the Central Valley.

Play a round in Tambor, then explore Curú Wildlife Refuge, the Montezuma waterfalls or the Cabo Blanco reserve.
